Abstract
A convection-diffusion equation with time-varying boundary conditions is considered. This equation can be interpreted as a model of a room whose temperature shall be controlled in an energy efficient way. To that end a Model Predictive Controller (MPC) was implemented. In the presentation at the conference we will present the results from simulations that demonstrate that the controller works and illustrate how the performance improves with increasing MPC horizon length. We can also observe Turnpike behaviour which is a key ingredient in the proof of near-optimality of the MPC.
